Peyton: the Family man & Community Leader
Personal Life
Peyton definitely comes from a football family - both father Archie and younger brother are NFL quarterbacks themselves. Archie played for the New Orleans Saints, Houston Oilers and Minnesota Vikings throughout his career. Eli is the current quarterback for the New York Giants. Manning has another brother, Cooper, who's promising football career was cut-short during his high school years when he sadly developed Spinal Stenosis causing numbness in his hands and fingers. Cooper currently maintains part-ownership of a major energy company in New Orleans.
Peyton and his wife Ashley have been married since 2001 and were actually introduced the summer before Peyton's freshman year of college. It was love at first sight and the couple have been inseparable since. They have twins together - a boy and girl, named Marshall and Mosely.

The Manning Boys Encourage Football & Teamwork
Peyton - along with his father and two brothers - run the Manning Passing Academy during the summers. This is a football camp lasting five days that aims to improve offensive skills of quarterbacks, running backs, tight ends and wide receivers. The camp hosts several prominent soon-to-be NFL players.
Peyton, Archie and Eli have also authored two books - pictured on the left. Archie and Peyton wrote Manning: A Father, His sons and a Football Legacy in 2000 which offers each of their viewpoints on the sport. Eli joined the pair to write Family Huddle, a children's book about football and important values like teamwork and family. |
Peyton in Popular culture
Peyton carved out a special place in the hearts of Indianapolis fans - notably improving the reputation of the city. The Indiana State Museum houses memorabilia and information on the Colts' wins.
Peyton became one of the most marketed NFL players while he was playing with the Colts - appearing in several television commercials and Saturday Night Live skits. Peyton has been featured on Saturday Night Live twice, including hosting once with country singer Carrie Underwood in 2007. He appeared on SNL the second time in 2008, but just made a sole appearance as a sports news announcer in a skit. Peyton has also been featured in several ad campaigns, including: Papa Murphy's Pizza, DirecTV and the NFL Sunday Ticket. The Papa Murphy's campaign is the most well-known - Peyton and the company owner have teamed up to donate 2 million free pizzas to Broncos fans. The only catch? You have to purchase a pizza first to get a coupon for the second one free. |
Giving back to the community
Peyton has always been known as a friendly, grounded and genuine guy. His family-first values are projected into his community through several organizations and volunteer efforts . He began these traditions while playing for the Colts, but has brought them to Denver.
Almost immediately after Peyton began his career with the NFL, he knew he wanted to do something to help his community. Hence began the Peyback Foundation, aimed to help children in poverty. Specifically, this organization targets children living in Indiana, Tennessee and Louisiana. Peyton has played football in all these states, making it obvious as to why he wants to give back to these areas. He is currently looking to extend this program to Denver, but it has not been initiated yet. Peyton and brother Eli also made great contributions to their hometown of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina wreaked havoc. They not only volunteered their time to clean-up efforts, but also made monetary donations. |
